The Enhanced Land Battle Form of the RX-107 “Rosette” is a ground combat form of the RX-107 used when the Murphy Team assaults Karaba’s Kamchatka base. This form is equipped with option parts so that the RX-107 can perform high-speed combat on the ground, and is capable of high-speed hovering movement. The optional hovering skirt unit contains powerful thermonuclear jet engines whose thrust enables the machine to float. Unlike thermonuclear rockets that generate thrust by consuming propellant, these thermonuclear jets use the atmosphere as (fuel? propellant? the term is illegible here), and thus have the merit of reducing propellant consumption and extending the mission operating time.
Because the nuclear thermal jet engines of the Enhanced Land Battle Form draw in air and use it as a medium to produce thrust, they can essentially travel only straight ahead, making them useless for sharp turns and sudden changes of direction. Its hovering skirt unit contains two of the generator units seen in other TR series machines. The mobile suit itself has been converted to the same version as the standard RMS-108 Marasai, and the latches attached to its back and right shoulder can support a shield booster and the large beam rifle used by the atmospheric version of the TR-3 Kehaar. Its chest is protected by an armor unit similar to that of the Hizack Cannon, with a spread beam gun installed in the center.
Several other ideas were considered and discarded between the prototype plan and the final version. The hovering skirt unit was originally intended to house a compact Minovsky craft system, but this was omitted because the system couldn’t be made small enough. We’re also told that this unit was developed with flight in mind, but it failed to produce enough thrust, so its function was shifted to that of a high-speed hover unit.
