Profile
The TR-3 “Kehaar” is remodeled for atmospheric use after the completion of its space testing, and new tests are conducted to evaluate the durability of its transformation mechanisms under gravity and to establish tactical and operational methods for the new weapons category of “flight-capable transformable mobile armor.”
Based on development data from the previously tested Federation Forces version of the Asshimar, improvements and enhancement parts are added to each part of the machine. New prototype thermonuclear engines are installed in the leg sections which serve as the TR-3’s main propulsion devices, giving it far greater thrust than a standard Asshimar. As an enhancement part, the TR-3 is equipped with a skirt unit containing supplemental thrusters for vertical takeoff. Since this unit includes fixed wings for stabilizing the machine’s flight attitude, its silhouette in mobile armor form is very different from that of the standard version. The skirt unit is also useful for attitude control during aerial combat in mobile suit form.
Technical Notes
A spread beam gun similar to that of the Dom is installed in the left side of the Kehaar’s chest, and each knee houses the same type of supplemental generator installed in the Hazel’s movable booster pod. A beam emitter is built into the stock of the beam rifle, enabling it to double as a beam axe or beam scythe. The beam rifle and one energy pack holder can be attached to a latch behind the Kehaar’s waist.
Apparently the Asshimar was developed by the regular Federation Forces, who created a prototype machine for testing its transformation mechanisms in space; this prototype attracted the attention of the Titans, who “requisitioned” it and adapted it into the TR-3 Kehaar.
Meanwhile, the Federation Forces continued their own development work and began testing the next version of the Asshimar in the atmosphere. By the time the Kehaar is transferred to Earth for its own atmospheric testing, the Federation Forces are far enough along in their work that the Titans can update the Kehaar by borrowing parts from the standard Asshimar. So the food chain would go something like this…
FEDERATION FORCES * TITANS TEST TEAM
*
Prototype Asshimar *
| *
+---------------------+
| * |
Asshimar * Kehaar (Space)

+---------------------+

* Kehaar (Earth)

In other words, the Federation’s prototype Asshimar spawns both the standard Asshimar and the Titans’ Kehaar, and the Titans then borrow from the standard Asshimar to adapt the Kehaar for use on Earth.
