One Response to “GFF 0021a Gundam F90/Gundam F91 (Capt. Harrison)”

  1. Random GM Pilot
    4 stars

I’ve always liked Harrison’s colors for the F91 Gundam and this came out before the F91 MG, so I jumped at the chance to buy it. And it wasn’t a bad buy all in all.

Head: Comes with one for the F90 and the normal and super robot-esque face-plate rectracted heads for the F91. It takes some effort to pull one out, but whatever you put there next will stay there well enough. Extremely limited side-ways movement.

Torso: This is where the conversion bit comes into play. There’s a base frame with a few parts that remain the same in either configuration (thighs, upper legs, feet, arms except for the forearms) and those are it. Everything else is changed from F90 to F91 or vice versa. There’s no movement for the torso itself, but insane amounts of details, like most GFFs, make up for that. Skirt armor moves separately for left and right for both MS, and everything here is stable. Except for the F90’s side skirt armor. The blue parts on the outside tend to fall of rather easily.

Arms: I like these, they’re simple but sturdy. Change out shoulder armor, forearms, and guns, and BOOM. That’s all that needs doing. The F90 has a pretty cool stylistic physical shield it can mount directly to the arm, and F91 has the beam shield generator which can either be resting, active, or active with the shield on. Also worth noting I think is that instead of the movie-style lettering, the “F 91″ lettering on the shoulders is written with cascading white lines, which I personally think is a neat change. The VSBRs slide onto the pegs that go into the torso pretty easily and when they’re swung out, they move on a small track on the front chest piece so they stay in place. They can also move between stationary and firing modes and the handles do come out, which can be grabbed, and they’ll stay in place even if you don’t do so. They turned out better than I expected. Also, radiator fins are available to put in the shoulder armor. They’re completly stationary, but they’re removable easily as well. There are trigger hands for all the guns, close-fisted hands for both arms, and hands for grasping the VSBRs.

Legs: The feet are the same for both versions, as are the upper parts of the legs. Everything else is interchangeable. The back of the legs are the best parts about the F90 in my opinion. Cool internal detail and the vents near the back of the knees fit perfectly. For F90, each front leg is one large piece that covers from the ankle to the knee. Ankle armor connects to the leg for F90 and to the foot itself for F91. The legs are pretty stiff, so not much posing with them. The back of the legs for F91 have parts to make the radiator fins on the legs either be spread out or hidden in the leg; one or the other, since they don’t actually move. The F91’s lower legs are also in two pieces on each leg; they enclose the frame on the left and right sides and the knee/leg vent area takes up the slot where the F90 had the whole front leg mounted. The only downside is that the knee connection loses some snugness if you switch between MS a lot.

Weapons and accessories: Beam rifles for both MS, shields for both MS, and a gun for the F90 which I call, for lack of a better word, the BFG 9000. This thing is ENORMOUS. It beats out FAZZ’s cannon in length, even. It’s designed for the F90 but either can hold it. The F91 has a beam launcher as well as the rifle, also in blue.

Overall: This figure is amazing for what it is: a display piece. It has all the weapons it should have, more than enough detail to make any Katoki fan rejoice, and just enough poseability to put it in a neat pose then have it on your shelf. It has very little mobility and there are areas (like the knee armor) that will wear out a bit if you keep switching between the two, so I’d recommend either getting two or just sticking with a config you like. It can switch between normal F91, the “after-image” version, or F90. I bought it for the F91, I love it, and think it’s really worth shelling out clams for if you want a smaller F91 with awesome detail. Or if you want an F90 since I think this is the only thing out of it, oddly enough. If you want a smaller F90 or an F91 in Harrison’s colors with insane detail, then go for it.
