Straight from Hajime Katoki's Gundam Sentinel, the HGUC line has finally sported Katoki's work with Gundam Sentinel. The designs in the series are truly unique and the S Gundam is no exception. The kit is larger than most normal HGUCs. Its large beam smartgun is excellent for posing as there are many different options it has to pose with it. It comes with two hand sets, fists (can hold the gun too) and open hands. The open hands really let you do some cool gun posing with it. The Shoulders are double jointed and have a wide range of movement. The torso, however, cannot move from the lower half of the MS. There is a polycap that separates the upper torso from the lower, but its kind of useless. The backpack on this baby is pretty cool, but not as big as the Ex-S's unit. This smaller backpack doesn't cause the weight distribution problems that the Ex-S has though. As for painting,a little is required to really give the true definition of the MS. Red trim on the wings on the shoulders, the rear skirt armor, and gunmetal on the forearm and on the feet will make it look much better. Additionally, if you really want to go further, the paint in the knee spikes and the beam guns on the sides of its hips need attention, but the rest of the MS is alright. Its quite the work of art and has plenty of details. As far as the kits mobility, the legs actually have more range of motion than the Ex-S, but not by much. For the record, if you own both the HGUC S Gundam and Ex-S, the parts are interchangeable. You could technically have an S Gundam with the Ex-S leg additions or the chest mod or that massive backpack. They both work!
Overall, this is a pretty solid kit with some nice details. There are decals that come with this kit too which I really think makes a difference with these detailed mobile suits.
