This is the HGUC kit of the RX-78NT-1 or the \”Gundam Alex\” as it has come to be known. In the series it battled twice; once against the Kampfer (which has yet to get HGUC treatment) and then finally against a Zaku II. In those two battles, the NT-1 already made a stand for itself as the \”missing link\” between Amuro's original Gundam and the development of the psycommu system that would later be used by newtypes and gained its popularity. The kit itself is gorgeous, as you can see by the picture above. Its only other 1/144th kit was horrid, so I was quite pleased when the HGUC Alex came out. Onto the kit itself:

This is, by far, the best HGUC kit I have ever had the pleasure of building. It is designed perfectly (with that \”Katoki\”-esque designing) and the design for the kits pieces is ingenious. The parts do an excellent job of hiding seam lines by putting the seam lines where normal panel lines would be. The colors are right on. At first glance, you will think the \”orange yellow\” for the yellow parts is wrong, but once its built, you'll see how well that shade of yellow works for the kit. Unfortunatley, since the NT-1 was such a detailed and complex design, the kit still looks very unfinished once its built. A simple Gundam Marker can fix all of this as the kit only needs painting in 4 small areas. The weapons for the NT-1 are superbly designed and look very nice. The arm gatlings look so detailed for 1/144th scale, and the main gun's sleek design makes for some cool poses. Theres fist hands and one trigger hand for this kit. (I expected open palm hands too for firing the gatlings, but alas, just fists) This kit doesn't stop there with the accessories. Its got its full armor option too! The armor fits like a glove and compliments the kit very nicely. As the kit did a great job hiding the seam lines, so does the armor! The shoulder plate armor is all one piece even, so all you have to do is slip it on! Also, a step up from the older kit, you don't have to remove the backpack to put the chest armor on. Its got a nice range of motion on all joints. Double jointed neck even! Also, the torso can \”bend\” like it has a spine in the back. It can hunch the torso forward or lean back. Makes for some very nice posing. It also comes with stickers (not those shiny ones, more like water-slide quality)

Anyways, I've done enough praise for this wonderful kit. I'm still geeking out about how well it hid all those nasty seam lines! Its so great! All the kit needs is that detailing, and it'll be the best looking kit you've got. Its my favorite HGUC right now (until they come out with the Hazel HGUC) so get yours now!
