Differences in Indica vs Sativa Cannabis Effects

Heather Schultz Mar 6, 2022 0

Cannabis, more commonly known as Marijuana, is a well-known name in our world today. It is known for its medical use and abuse, but what people don’t know is that there are different kinds of Cannabis; Indica, Sativa, and Hybrid. Each has its side effects and today we will be focusing on Indica vs Sativa cannabis effects. Although both plans are variations of the same plant they each have their effect when taken and today we will take a look at their differences

  1. Cannabinoids (CBD) Concentration

It is scientifically proven; Indica Cannabis has a higher CBD concentration than its cousin, Sativa. This fact makes Indica an effective pain reliever and has more calming effects than Sativa, which has a higher concentration of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) than CBD. This difference greatly affects the plant’s usage, when desiring a more relaxed feeling Indica is the best available option of the two. It also helps in curing Insomnia and muscle and joint inflammation. CBD concentration is a key influence on Indica vs Sativa cannabis effect.

  1. Prescription

Due to their effects; Indica inducing relaxation and Sativa increasing productivity their prescription also differs. Indica is often prescribed during the night, this helps patients relax more after a long day of activities. Sativa is prescribed during the morning, helping those with psychological disorders like depression, PTSD, and anxiety. This helps them start the day off with a smile alleviating them of the pressure they might face as the day progresses

  1. Medical effects

A key difference in Indica vs Sativa cannabis effect is their medical applicability. Indica is often used to achieve a state commonly referred to as ‘Body High’, a state of relaxation that exceeds normal limits. This effect is prescribed to individuals who suffer from anxiety and Insomnia. Sativa, on the other hand, is used to achieve a ‘Mind High’, a cerebral enhanced state commonly use to uplift one’s mood and productivity. Before buying any medical cannabis you are required to know what kind of effect you are hoping for.

  1. Aroma

Additional chemical Terpenes is secreted from the same glands as CBD and THC. This chemical is responsible for the aromatic compounds produced from plants, and both Indica and Sativa have different aromas. Indica has a musty, earthy, and skunky odor while Sativa has a sweet, fruit, and spicy scent. These scents are beneficial to patients as they each serve their main purpose, the earthy and musty scents aid in relaxing the human body while the fruity and spicy help increase cerebral activity.

In conclusion, cannabis has multiple strains, but the most common are Indica and Sativa so knowing the difference between the two gives you a clear picture of what effect you desire. Both have different medical effects, but it all sums up between achieving a ‘Body High’, or a “Mind High”. These facts will serve as a basic foundation into the world of Cannabis sativa
